How to print shipping labels on a normal A4 printer

A thermal printer is not required. Fit 1, 2 or 4 labels on an A4 sheet, print at 100%, and cut along the dashed lines.

Choosing labels per sheet

Open the Flipkart or Meesho tool, switch the toggle to Normal A4 printer, then pick how many labels go on each sheet:

4 per sheet
Least paper. Each label at about 94% of 4 × 6
2 per sheet
One straight cut across the middle. About 94%
1 per sheet
A true 101.6 × 152.4 mm label, centred

At 4 per sheet the label prints slightly smaller than a real 4 × 6 sticker, because two rows of 6 inches do not quite fit inside the height of an A4 page. Every handheld scanner reads it without trouble — the barcode is reproduced as vector content rather than as an image, so it stays sharp at any size. Choose 1 per sheet if you specifically need the label at exactly 4 × 6.

“Fit to page” is the usual reason a label prints too small on A4 as well. Set scaling to Actual size or 100%. Keep the sheet margin at 5 mm or more so nothing lands in the strip around the edge that most inkjet and laser printers physically cannot print on.

Cutting and attaching

Dashed cut lines are drawn between the labels. They run edge to edge, so a paper cutter or guillotine gets through a stack in one pass per line. At 2 per sheet that is a single horizontal cut; at 4 per sheet, one horizontal and one vertical.

Plain paper labels are not self-adhesive, so attach them with clear tape across the whole label, or paste and cover with tape. Keep tape off the barcode where you can — a glossy strip over it can throw off a laser scanner. If you print on A4 sticker sheets instead, they peel and stick directly.

Keeping the tax invoice

Choose Label with Invoice instead of Label and each label page is followed by its tax invoice on a landscape page, sized to fill the sheet. Choose the plain Label option and the invoice is discarded.

Moving to a thermal printer later

If your volume grows, a 4 × 6 direct-thermal printer removes the cutting and taping entirely and uses no ink. See thermal printer setup for 4 × 6 labels.
