The two settings that matter
Almost every complaint about a label printing too small, off-centre or half-blank comes from one of these:
- Paper size must be set to 4 × 6 in, or 100 × 150 mm, in the printer driver itself — not just in the print dialog.
- Scaling must be Actual size or 100% in the print dialog.
Never use “Fit to page”. It shrinks the label to fit inside the printer's margins and leaves a white border all the way round. This is the single most common reason a correctly cropped label still prints small. In Chrome, open More settings and switch Scale to Default.
Driver settings
These apply to the common direct-thermal models sold in India — TSC, Zebra, Rugtek, Xprinter and their rebadges:
- Paper size
- 4 × 6 in / 100 × 150 mm
- Resolution
- 203 dpi
- Orientation
- Portrait
- Scaling
- Actual size / 100%
- Media type
- Direct thermal, gap or label sensor
Leave orientation on portrait even for a Meesho label. The Meesho tool rotates the label inside the page, so the PDF already arrives the right way up. If you set the driver to landscape as well, the two rotations cancel out and the label prints sideways.
Calibrate the label gap
If the printer feeds a blank label between every print, skips labels, or starts printing halfway down, it has not learned where one label ends and the next begins. Run the printer's calibration routine — on most models that means holding the feed button until it cycles through and feeds two or three labels on its own. Do this once after loading a new roll size.
Check the crop before you print a hundred
Print one label first. The tool reports the exact page size and scale under the preview, for example 288 × 432 pt · 101.6 × 152.4 mm, which is a true 4 × 6 inch page. If what comes out of the printer is noticeably smaller than the sticker, the problem is in the print dialog, not in the crop.
If the label itself is wrong
If the wrong part of the sheet was kept, open Advanced settings, drag the blue frame over the correct area, then choose “Use this frame everywhere” to apply it to the whole batch. Settings there are per-visit and are not saved between sessions.
No thermal printer?
You do not need one. See printing shipping labels on a normal A4 printer.
